For our student scholarship program, The National Conference on Wilderness Medicine is seeking hard-working students who have a keen interest in the field. Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary registration for the meeting along with a ticket to our banquet and will be asked to work closely with conference management staff in a variety of ways including: registering conference attendees, answering questions regarding the conference schedule and location of workshops, ushering attendees to the proper locations, checking registrants into workshops, selling shirts and jackets and other miscellaneous tasks. We will do our best to schedule these tasks so that our student scholars can attend nearly all lectures. Please note: Applications will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis (preference may be given to early applications). Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than 12/15/19.
3 or more participants from the same institution can sign up together and receive $100 off each registration fee. When all registrants have registered, we will apply $100 discount to each, one week prior to the start of the conference.

Successful completion of this course leads to AWEP Certification®. AWEP Certification®; is the highest wilderness medicine certification we offer. This course Includes 15.5 additional AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ all supplies, syllabus, breakfast, and a certificate.

WILDERNESS AND URBAN SURVIVAL | Saturday, February 22, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Faculty: Gary KibbeeA unique opportunity to learn and practice both basic and advanced survival skills from a Navy Seal instructor and other renowned survival experts who train our elite Special Forces. This all day “hands-on” workshop is a practical and fun skill building experience, designed to prepare you to survive on land, in the sea, in the wilderness and urban environments. Participants will learn how to:• Signal and be found• Obtain food and water• Build fires with primitive tools• Escape a hotel fire• Construct and improvise survival kits• Survive a plane crash• Protect yourself during a disaster• Travel safely in third world countries and avoid being “ripped off”• Find and construct emergency shelters (build snow caves and igloos)• Recognize and evade terrorists
The optional workshops listed below are offered in conjunction with the conference at an additional cost. Optional workshops do not offer additional CME credit unless noted otherwise. Workshops feature small group sizes and have limited enrollment - early reservations are encouraged.

WINTER WILDERNESS SURVIVAL

It covers the most vital aspects of winter survival. A variety of manmade and natural fire starting techniques will be taught and practiced.
